A dual channel VBrick WM appliance can instatnly deliver two channels of live video via unicast or multicast.  Most importantly, no special player is needed by the viewing audience.  The application allows viewers to see both camera video and live video of the instructor's computer desktop, providing an integrated viewing experience.

Here is how to deliver both your camera video and your live computer desktop in real time:

  • Set Slot 1 to 320x240, ~200 Kbps, 15 fps, enable the server, and optionally enable multicast (e.g. 239.1.1.1). Set the audio to your preference.
  • Set Slot 2 to 640x480 ~50 Kbps, 1 fps, enabled the server, and optinally enable multicast (e.g. 239.1.1.2). Set the audio to 5Kbps (it will not be used).
  • Connect a camera to your Slot 1 encoder.
  • Connect the video output from your computer to Slot 2 (many laptop computers have SVideo out, otherwise, use a low cost scan converter).
  • Download http://www.videoalive.com/customplayer/wm/wmmultimedia.zip
  • Open a FTP window to your VBrick (ftp://username:password@VBrickIp)
  • Navigate to the folder called "WEB" and open it.
  • Copy CUSTOM4.HTML and CUSTOM5.HTML to the "WEB" folder. You may overwrite existing files, they are blank.

To view the live dual-channel video via the VBrick conventional unicast, open IE browser and enter http://VBrickIp/custom4.htm.  To view via multicast, enter http://VBrickIp/custom5.html

The video from the desktop is good quality, but does not seek to deliver high resolution.  For high resolution graphics, VBPresenter may be used.

Alternately, you can use the simple "Screen Capture" tool for VBPresenter (found under "multimedia" on www.videoalive.com).

VBPresenter controls the VBrick's integral video switch.  Commonly, one video input is a camera and the other is connected to the video output of your computer.  During a presentation, you can instantly switch back and forth between the camera and video from your computer.
