Many organizations have a common database that contains all records for network users. Called "Active Directory", "X.500", and "Lightweight Directory Access Protocol", it provides a common list of authorized network users.
MCS can use your exsting LDAP records (with some exceptions) so that you do not need to enter new accounts for video users.
MCS also can maintain its own database of users.
It all depends on what you want to do. If assign no special permissions, then you don't need to user either. If you want to just set up two passwords, one for you and one for everyone else, you would use the MCS database. If you want to have a handful of usernames, then again, the MCS database will do nicely. If you have 20,000 employees or students and the network usernames/passwords have regular adds/changes/deletes, then you will likley want to integrate MCS with your existing LDAP.
