Application for VBrick in broadcasting includes Studio-To-Transmitter links, Cable Headends, Trunking, Confidence Monitoring, Internet Radio, Internet Video, Remote News Gathering, and more.

Are those the only applications VBrick units are being used for?
Can they be used for content distribution?
Let's say I have 3 stations that I want to connect in a chain - can I have one unit originate programming, one receive and broadcast it, and the third receive it from the 2nd and broadcast it too?
How much of a delay are we talking about?

VBricks are used for 1,000's of applications. The heading "Broadcasting" means many things to different people :) Yes, you can use VBricks to connect a chain as you describe. For MPEG-2, the delay is about 180 msec.

Is the delay of 180ms per station (per re-feed) or is it an aggregate for all three stations mentioned in the eaxmple (3x60ms)?
Thanx.

It is end-to-end, per encoder/decoder link.

I generally (unless there is a really good reason) wouldn't recommend a chain as it is going to leave all of your headends very exposed to any point of failure.

I'm the IT Admin for a school district, and we currently run the EtherneTV for point-and-click content for the classroom. It works very well but we are looking to expand. We are looking into broadcasting a TV channel (public access on the local cable provider.) I'm looking for something that would integrate well with what we have. We've had some one come in a pitch a product (not related to VBrick) to digitally produce and broadcast a tv channel. Could some one give me a little advice to guide me in the right direction.

Well, all you need to do is plug your broadcast feed into any VBrick appliance (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, WM) and it will be available to everyone via the EtherneTV interface. Virtually all VBrick customers do this at some level. The question is so simple, I'm wondering if I'm missing somthing?
