Oops!
« on: May 13, 2009, 08:41:29 PM »

Ok, so we have our lovely little network just working like a charm, and my charming co-worker decides to play with some settings.  Well, he hit the DHCP enable on the settings, and what happened?  We lost all connectivity to the vbrick.  Which brings me to my question;

How can I either reset the vbrick to default settings, or connect to a DHCP enabled vbrick from my normal network.

I tried plugging a laptop directly into the terminal ports, as well as the ethernet port and setting up a new connection with DHCP enabled but it did not work.  Perhaps I am missing something.

Any help would be grateful as it might stop me from maiming my co-worker!  Thanks!

A not-so-uncommon problem, I'm afraid.
I guess you previously used a fixed IP address?

You have two choices:
1) let the VBrick get a DHCP address.  Look at the front panel to see what it is, then log in using that address
2) if you don't have DHCP running, then let the VBrick timeout. It will then use a default IP address of 172.17.x.x.  Look at the front panel to see what it is. Put your laptop IP on the same network (change your laptop IP to 172.17.x.x) and login to the VBrick.

Remember that you need a switch/hub to connect, or a crossover Ethernet cable.

Good luck!
