Greetings.
I came across your site looking for ways to trouble shoot some VBrick viewing issues we are having after a contractor install. I am working with our project lead in an attempt to bring IPTV to our entire MAJCOM, about 12 bases. Our network consists of 60% Vista boxes and 40% XP and 1 Mac. Due to our security policy our network computers receive security pushes the lock down a good portion of the machine.
Initially after our install neither XP nor Vista machines would work. We did a bit of trouble shooting and found the ports to get it to work on the XP machines and somewhat on the Vista boxes. On the XP machines you can watch the IPTV as long as your hearts content, however on the Vista boxes you can watch til about 3 mins then the box will say buffering and then error out saying the Program is currently not available or not accessible. In most cases however the Vista clients get the error message without connecting to the video. There are two machines that work. One Vista box that will play til the cows come home, and the Mac that dual boots into vista. We are using Multicast to bring IPTV to the desktops.
I am pretty sure that our security features are keeping the video from playing but i don't know which feature is stopping the videos from continuously playing.
So far we have tried...
- Running IE in Compability mode - Changing the IMGPVersion - Opening the entire outbound/inbound firewall traffic - Downloading .mnsc file and playing that - Updating WMP - Using different machines.
Thats all the things i can remember us trying but we have been working on this for 3 consecutive weeks. Even the people who performed the install are stumped as to what's causing it not to work. We did us a microsoft compability tool to find the errors but we are unsure as to what it points to. For XP the compability tool point to some registry writes the were denied to to permission but thats not the case with Vista. I have the logs if anyone providing help would like to see them.
Thanks.

A few questions:
1) Are you using MCS (it seems like you are) 2) Are you using VBrick WM, MPEG-2, or MPEG-4? 3) Are you trying to view unicast or multicast on vista?

In the 4.2.1 release of portal, there are notes about IE7 and the Portal. Check the Administrator's or User's Guide. IE7 is the de-facto browser in Vista
