Can anyone give me a walkthrough of how to record to a VBStar v3.02a's hard drive a live feed going to its audio/video inputs? I just want to record the live feed the VBStar is encoding, but can't seem to figure out how to do it.
I have the encoder successfully multicasting the feed and the SAP being picked up by the VBrick MCS, but need help on simultaneously recording the the VBStar hard drive. The file gets created, but has 0 bytes. Thanks! -Bill
Bill -- flexibility can bring some complexity. The VBSTAR can record from a encoder in the same box, or from a MPEG2 video source that is on the network. For example, sometimes I record an event on the VBSTAR in my office by telling it to "tune in" to a video that I am viewing. More often I record as you want to do, from the a/v input of an encoder in the same box.
If your VBrick has a decoder (it is an encoder/decoder),than you can use the IR remote control and you have on-screen display to select what you want to record. Otherwise, jsut set the network address of the recorder to the same address as your encoder. Then select Configure/Recoder/Operation to select the Start/Stop buttons.
The product manual has pretty good description of how this works, and you can even access it online from the VBrick managment interface (if you have Internet access).
